Man arrested after collision near Gatwick

Police are seeking witnesses after two cars collided at the junctions of Beehive Ring Road and Gatwick Road, close to Gatwick Airport.

The incident involving a black Ford and a black Mercedes occurred around 3.55pm on 16 July.

Specifically, officers are keen to speak to the drivers of a blue Mini (with white stripes), a white SUV and a white Caddy-style van who may have witnessed it.

A 55-year-old man from East Grinstead has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, uninsured driving and possession of an offensive weapon in public. He has been bailed until 17 September pending further enquiries.

Man charged following fatal M23 collision

A 38-year-old man has been charged following a serious collision on the M23.

Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway of the M23 at Junction 9 just prior to 1am on Wednesday 8 July after a van collided with a highways worker.  

The 65-year-old man from Kent was sadly declared deceased at the scene. His next of kin are aware and our thoughts remain with his family during this time.

The driver of the van, a 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Vilius Domarkas, 38, of no fixed address was charged the same day with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the incident.

He appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 9 July and was remanded into custody until he is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 6 August.

Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin said: “We are continuing to support the victim’s family following this tragic incident.

“The investigation remains ongoing, and we continue to encourage anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant information including dashcam footage to come forward.”

We are reminding residents to ensure when you are leaving your home/outbuildings unattended that you keep all windows/doors closed.

By following these steps, you can significantly reduce the risk of burglary and enhance the security of your home.

 Keep windows closed

 Consider installing a burglar alarm or CCTV system to provide an additional layer of security.

Stay vigilant – keep an eye on your drink. Spikers could also add drugs to food, or tamper with vapes.

Stick together – look out for your friends

 Recognise warning signs – if you or someone you are with experiences extreme drowsiness, confusion, dizziness, take it seriously and alert staff.

Trust your gut – if something feels off, alert staff and seek some help.

Report incidents – if you suspect spiking, report it to the police or inform staff.
